Exam Proctors:

The ACNB utilizes proctors trained by the Test Development Director or his/her designee, the written test Administrator.  The written test Administrator is a certified educator.  The examination Administrator is responsible for the following activities:

  2. Delivering examination instructions
  3. Training proctors with a Board member

  5. Maintaining written examination chain of custody for test security
  6. Identifying incidents and notification of a Board member
  7. Handling of incidents/follow-up reports
  8. Shipment of examination materials

A proper proctor to candidate ratio is maintained. The proctors assist in the following activities:

  1. Physical room arrangements to include lighting, ventilation, tables/writing surfaces, chairs, clocks, spacing, entrances/exits
  2. Directing/accompanying candidates to restroom location
  3. Noise control
  4. Physical placing of candidates in written examination room
  5. Physical escort of candidates to practical examination
  6. Placing of noise abatement signs
  7. Proper dissemination of test material
  8. Confiscation of materials prohibited from test site
  9. Verification of acceptable forms of photo-bearing identification
  10. Sign-out/Sign-in logs
  11. Retrieval of examination materials

For the oral/practical examination, proctors are briefed on examination security issues, confidentiality issues, and requirements for a noise-free and distraction-free examination environment. Proctors for the oral/practical examination are required to insure that the examiners and candidates are in their designated areas at the appropriate time(s). During this phase of the competency evaluation, the only conversation required is minimal discussion related to the examination itself. Camera operators are briefed on proper techniques. The patient/model is also briefed on his/her responsibilities and conduct.  All proctors and camera personnel are required to sign confidentiality agreements.  At the conclusion of the testing, all proctors and Associate Examiners are reviewed for performance by the Test Development Director and one or more members of the Board.
